BACKGROUND

The 7th Asian Symposium on Visualization (7ASV) will be held on 26-30 May 2003, in the "Garden City" - Singapore, which has also been ranked as Asia's number one Convention City for 16 consecutive years.

This Symposium is the latest in the series of Asian Symposia of Visualization, which was first held in Beijing, China (1988), Chiba, Japan (1994), Beijing, China (1996), Bali, Indonesia (1999) and Pusan, Korea (2001).

The aim of the Symposium is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to communicate and exchange information in the field of visualization applied over a wide range of disciplines which utilises this technique such as, fluid dinamics, acoustics, aerodynamics, biomedical science, chemical engineering, civil engineering, environmental science, medical imaging, metallurgy, meteorogy, oceanography, solid mechanics, sports science.

■ Fundamental Research in fluid dynamics, experimental mechanics, physics, chemistry, biology, archaeology, environmental science, meteorology, etc.

■ Applied Research in industry, agriculture, fishery, forestry, transportation, sports, etc.

Original papers which deal with all aspects of visualization either qualitative and/ar quantitative in nature are solicited. Topics include but are not limited to:

Visualization techniques:

■ Experimental Visualization such as tufts, tracers, surface traces, chemical interactions, electrical control, PIV, optical methods, etc.

■ Numerical Visualization which includes graphical display of data sets, image acquisition and processing, computer graphics, ets.
