A. "As a travel destination it's perfect," said Sebastian Balser, a snow-boarder. "The nature, the volcanoes, the contrasts." Contrasts between the regal volcanoes and the city's infrastructure. Contrasts between the inviting landscape and the service in the restaurants and hotels. Balser paused, then added, "It's Russia."
B. First of all, there is the peninsula's natural beauty. Known as the "Land of Fire and Ice," Kamchatka is covered in volcanoes, geysers and hot springs, and it is reach in brown bears, salmon, giant eagles and other exotic wildlife. For skiers and snowboarders there is the fact that a helicopter skiing package starts at about $2,000, which is half the price of a similar trip in Europe or North America. The vast majority of the tourists come from Europe and Russia. But Americans are beginning to show up in increasing numbers.

Lost Baggage and Ruined Trips
Two years ago Valerie Bent arrived in Buenos Aires but her suitcase did not. She had to rush out to buy clothes for a meeting the next morning. When the bag did not show up the following day, she made a second shopping trip. On the third day, the airlines found her suitcase and promised to deliver it to her hotel within 45 minutes. But after several hours the airline informed Bent that the driver had been involved in an accident and her suitcase had been damaged. She wasn't compensated for the loss, though she was upgraded to first class from business class for the return flight.
What should frequent fliers do to prepare for the worst? It helps to pack a change of clothing in a carry-on bag, to include identification inside luggage
in case the outside tag falls off, and, if checked bags fail to arrive at the airport, to file a claim immediately.
John Hawks, executive director of the Consumer Travel Rights Center, recommends taking photographs of the contents of luggage before it is packed, as well as writing a packing list. Hawks has another piece of advice: "Never pack any item in your checked luggage that you cannot afford to lose."

Внеклассное мероприятие для учащихся IV-V классов «Concours des intellectuels»
КВН - это интеллектуальное состязание двух и более команд. Как же организовать этот конкурс на начальном этапе изучения французского языка? Как сделать так, чтобы обучающиеся не только предъявляли свои знания грамматики и лексики французского языка, но и демонстрировали свои артистические и импровизационные способности?
Ниже мы предлагаем вашему вниманию сценарий подобного интеллектуального сражения, подготовленный с учетом возрастных особенностей учащихся 4-5 классов и уровня обученности французскому языку на данном этапе.
Подготовительный этап
Учитель заранее разбивает класс на команды. Каждая команда получает домашнее задание: выбрать капитана, придумать название, девиз, герб своей команды и подготовить веселое представление всех участников и команды в целом на 5-7 минут.
Старшеклассники готовят музыкальную паузу (например, разучивают песню или ставят танец) и различные материалы для участников соревнования, а именно, ко второму конкурсу карточки со словами (первая серия карточек: soir, voir, pouvoir, devoir, vouloir; вторая серия карточек: mon, sa, leurs, lui, votre). К четвертому конкурсу необходимо подготовить 2
комплекта карточек с хаотично написанными словами из фраз: Quand les élèves font du bruit le maître dit Silence ! и Quand le maître explique la leçon les élèves écoutent attentivement. Для пятого конкурса нужно нарисовать 2 плаката со словом Fruit и Meuble. При этом на плакатах можно изобразить предметы для подсказок. Для последнего конкурса готовятся карточки с фразами Le chien saute sur le tapis и Le chat joue sous la table.
