ABOUT BALI

Bali, a tropical island in the Indonesian archipelago, is so picturesque and immaculate, which could almost be a painted backdrop. It has rice paddies tripping down hillsides like giant steps, volcanoes soaring up through the clouds, dense tropical jungle, long sandy beaches, warm blue water, crashing surf and friendly people who do not just have a culture but actually live it. In Bali, spirits come out to play in the moonlight, every night is a festival and even a funeral is an opportunity to have a good time.

As a truly international destination, Bali attracts visitors from all over the world, restaurants in Bali are extremely cosmopolitan yet inexpensive. Experience not only local delicacies like Nasi Goreng and Sate Campur but also Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese, Italian/European and even Mexican cuisine. We must not forget Bali's wonderful seafood - local lobster at such prices that you will want to keep coming back for more.

Bali also offers every standard of accommodation ranging from charming yet modest bungalow style hotels in lush tropical gardens for the budget minded through to arguably amongst the most exclusive and sophisticated hotels in the world!

Bali, the perfect holiday destination for all ages offers something for everyone. This tropical paradise has a unique blend of modern tourist facilities combined with wonderful shopping and a rich past and heritage. The Balinese people are proud of having preserved their unique Hindu culture against the advance of Islam, the dominant religion throughout Indonesia. This is still reflected in day-to-day life and can be seen in the numerous ceremonies, Balinese festivals and magnificent temples and palaces. Some of the best surfing beaches in the world can be found on the western side of the island whilst conversely the eastern side is a wonderful haven for families, with beautiful white sand beaches and gentle seas.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE

This multi disciplinary international conference, the fourteenth International Symposium on Transport Phenomena (ISTP-14) will provide a forum for researchers, scientists and practitioners from all over the world to exchange information, to present new development, and to discuss the future direction and priorities in the areas of transport phenomena. The previous ISTP symposia were held in Honolulu 1985, Tokyo 1987, Taipei 1988, Sydney 1991, Beijing 1992, Seoul 1993, Acapulco 1994, San Francisco 1995, Singapore 1996, Kyoto 1997, Taipei 1998, Istanbul 2000, and Victoria 2002.

SCOPE

Papers which deal with any aspects of transport phenomena in thermal-fluids engineering from fundamental sciences to applied technologies are invited. Topics include but are not limited to:

■ Boundary layer and Free Shear Flows

■ Turbulence and Flow Instabilities

■ Experimental and Computational Fluid Dynamics

■ Industrial Aerodynamics and Wind Engineering

■ Heat and Mass Transfer

■ Heat Exchangers

■ Combustion and Reacting Flows

■ Environmental Systems

■ Chemical Process Systems

■ Advanced Energy Systems

■ Electronic Equipment Cooling

High quality papers of archival value will be considered for publication in the International Journal of Transport Phenomena, Journal of Flow Visualization and Image Processing, and International Journal of Rotating Machinery.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Initial screening will be based on the abstracts, which should be submitted by air mail or e-mail in MS-Word. Submissions are welcome from authors from all countries. Authors should submit three copies of a 500 word abstract typed in Times (12) or Helvetica (10) fonts on good quality A4 or letter-sized paper within 165x210 mm margins.
