25 years ago in December 1989 there was Soviet-U.S. summit meeting on the island of Malta. The Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and U.S. President George Bush-Sr. met to discuss the urgent world affairs and both made historical statements on the end of the Cold War. of the U.S. by Russians and of Russia by Americans ________________________________________81

The author contends that while in the Soviet Union and in post-Soviet Russia people had a deep and sometimes even emotional interest in American culture and the American people, in the U.S. interest for Russia was but a reflection of the political situation in the relationship between these countries. According to the author, this asymmetry can be explained by the difference between collectivist (Russia) and individualist (USA) nature of cultures. Variational and improvisational kinds of music were characteristic for both West and East cultures when composing wasn't separated from performing. In old days inventing function belonged rather to interpreter then to composer but the importance of improvisation played a key role till the middle of the18th century. Than it gradually went down so composer's and performer's authorities were entirely separated to the end of the century.
